Finalizing a Build

Hey guys,

 

I've posted here before about a potential build, but have since freed up some cash and am ready to build my new PC. I will be building it mainly for gaming (obviously) and live streaming.

The GPU, PSU, and CD drive are already purchased.

The only thing I'm still questioning is the cooler, whether to go with an AIO like the H100i or to get a Noctua NH-D15 ($88 US at the time of posting).

Also, is the PSU good quality? I know EVGA makes good power supplies, and I got that one with a mail-in rebate, but is it high enough quality for this build? I would consider going SLI with a second MSI 970 later down the road (for S&G's probably, unless I get a 1440p monitor (which definitely won't happen soon)).

No, EVGA's NEX series aren't good. They're mediocre at best. 

 

Other than that, the build looks fine.

 

EDIT: Forgot to address the cooler. Both have comparable performance. If you don't care much for aesthetics, then I'd recommend the Noctua for being quieter. The beQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 is a much more aesthetically pleasing alternative.

1) i would personally go with air cooler unless you like to push your cpu to the limits

2) would pick hyperx or vengeance lpx for ram, because i know these works for skylake `-`

3) would choose wd blue over barracuda, its more reliable

4) would choose r9 390 over 970 for better gaming performance (especially if you have the cpu horsepower)

5) overkill wattage for one card `-` and the psu quality isnt that great, try getting the G2 or P2

6) get windows cheaper at microsoftsoftwareswap subreddit

-WD doesn't have a 2TB HDD for less than something like $110

-Already bought the 970, got it for cheap, I know about each cards pros and cons

not that i know of yet

but i wasnt really looking out for it so theres that

check the QVL list of your motherboard

Lol..... Alright I won't. And is double the price really worth the WD Black over the Seagate?

 

 

As for the cooler, @HKZeroFive thanks for the edit. Imo and AIO is the most aesthetically pleasing, and looks definitely have something to do with it for me. Will consider though.
