CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i GTX 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory

Storage:Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB FTW ACX 2.0 Video Card

Case: NEW NZXT H440 STEEL Mid Tower Case. Next Generation 5.25-less Design. Include 4 x 2nd Gen FNv2 Fans, High-End WC support, USB3.0, PWM Fan hub, Matte BLK / Red

upgrade the 970 to a r9 390 and get a good psu evga g2 or any tier 1 or 2

edit: psu tier list bit old but still relevant, would go for at least a 600w or higher minumum IMO

if i post a link to amazon try to use the LTT affiliate code to help the channel http://www.amazon.com/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&linkCode=ur2&tag=linustechtips-20

For gaming, you don't really need an i7 (thanks for using me btw) get something like an i5-6600k, and try to fit at least and R9 390. For $1500 you should at least have a 390 for your graphics card. Also you can get 8 gigs instead of 16 gigs of ram and shave of a few dollars. That's optional though.

CPU: me | Dark Rock Pro 3 | Asus Z170-A | 32GB Dominator Plats | 512gb SSD/4TB WD Black | 980Ti | BQ Silent Base 800 | EVGA 850w |

comments on build:

Spoiler

1) wont see much difference between i5 and i7 for purely gaming for now

2) personally i would change wd black to wd blue, cheaper and is more consumer oriented `-`

3) would change that gtx 970 to an r9 390, for better DX11 and DX12 support, though i recommend waiting for pascal

4) i would add a PSU to power the whole thing, EVGA SuperNOVA G2 550W will work for mid-range rigs

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately
