The Alienware is way better for graphics, for display I have no idea, but when looking at the most expensive models if you dont look at price I'd go with the Alienware

Depends though - if he wants to move around with the laptop a lot then the Y700 is much more practical

there is more to a laptop than just comparing specs, are you wanting the most powerful? the lightest? the best display?

 

There are always compromises, be it cost, size, weight, performance, etc etc

Finding the one that ticks the boxes you want, at the price you want is key
