A good CPU cooler for overclock and future compatibility

Hey guys,

 

Last year I bought myself a CoolerMaster gemenii M4 for my Core 2 Quad q8300 as it was hitting 100 degrees Celsius in heavy loads. e.g. CoD Black ops 2.

With said cooler bought the temps come down to the mid 60's. Last month I upgraded my setup to skylake:

 

Core 2 Quad q8300 -> I3-6100.

MSI-7529 ver1.1 -> Gigabyte Z170-HD3.

Transcend 4GB 800MHz DDR2 -> Transcend 8GB 2133 MHz DDR4.

Gigabyte 750Ti -> Did not change.

 

3 Days ago, I got the Bios update that allows me to overclock my non-k CPU, and I got my I3 form 3.7GHz to 4.44GHz so far with 1.235 volts.

 

Is my CPU cooler going to keep this CPU cool if I push the overclock further? Will this cooler be good enough for a overclocked I5-6600k? I plan on buying the I5 at some point.

As long as ANY cooler keeps it under 90c then your good

i would get a larger cooler or aio to oc the 6600k

NHD14 for Air 

Kraken X61, H100i GTX, H110i for AIOs

hmm thats pretty low

i dont know many coolers in that price range, i know budget and high end options...

corsair H55 and H60 would match that budget point for an AIO that is on a 120mm radiator to fit most case exhausts.

I used one for the start of my build on an i7 overclocked to 4.8 ghz @ 1.275v and it capped at 95, if I kept it around 1.25 or lower it maxed around 80.
