How to force NVIDIA clock speeds?

Shindo

I'm running dual 780's at the moment. I hate it how when you're on desktop use it throttles itself to only use "necessary" performance. How can I make it stop throttling itself and keep a consistent overclocked speed?

Why would you want to do that? It produces less heat and consumes less power by doing that.

The point of underclocking itself is to produce less heat and use less power when doing nothing.

It has Turbo Boost 2.0 on the 780s. They'll overclock themselves when they need to. They'll come down when you need to.

GPU Boost 2.0** Turbo Boost is Intel's technology branding.

Yes. It's not a big deal. Just a minor correction - in any case, you are correct about the 780 overclocking and downclocking functionality.

There's no reason to force it to run balls to the wall when you're watching youtube, and high GPU clock speeds don't make porn better.

I wouldn't do that, they'll ramp up when they're needed to, your Computer will be both louder and use more power if you force their OC, it's highly recommended you just leave them be, and let them ramp up to the OC when needed.

like the others have 'splained, it is not necessary to run wide-open throttle 100%

of its on-time. degrades quicker, excessive voltage, and warmer temps (louder fans).

but if you want a way, K-Boost is a short way or re-flash the BIOS with a custom BIOS

to over-write GPU Boost 2.0 like the water cooling builders do. good chance of bricking

a GPU with no warranty, K-Boost also if found enabled with a defect will remove the

warranty.

so why would you need 100% GPU power goofing on the web?

Okay, wow this forum is awesome. My only concern is does it know when to overclock itself? If I set it to a certain overclock will it know to hit that point? I'm gaming either at 5760x1080 or 144hz (sometimes w/ 3d) and I don't want the GPUs to only hit what they think is normal. Should I not be concerned and know that I can trust the cards to hit their full potential when they need to? Power is no concern for me, I have a corsair 1200axi, I just care about the heat (something direct CU 2's can manage very well).

True, but when I use AutoCAD or game in 3d, surround, or 144hz what will the overclock I set it to run at? Is overclocking just a way of say: "Hey this is the max you can run at, go for it"?

Damn, you could've fooled me xD

Sure, thanks for the info brother!

My 660 Ti's seem to know when to put the hammer down and when to back off, they crank up to whatever overclock I have set and stay there until I'm done playing whatever I'm playing. I don't see why you're so worried about them not doing what you want them to.
