Do G-sync monitors work with AMD GPU's?

AstroBenny

I was considering purchasing the Dell S2716DG G-sync monitor as it's on offer but was wondering if at some point I got an AMD GPU if it would still work but without g-sync?

Or will it only work with an Nvidia GPU?

I don't like 2D games...I just couldn't get into them.. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

It will work, but you won't get the benefits of G-sync.

Surely I can if I don't use G-sync...

That's ridiculous imo.

Oh, sorry I misread, gsync won't work but the monitor will work without that functionality perfectly fine.

it will work but you will toss $100++ for buying that module down the drain lol

It will still function as a display, but you will not get G-Sync as mentioned numerous times.

Both FreeSync and G-sync monitors will work as regular displays if you don't have GPU that supports those technologies. While FreeSync is more or less free and it doesn't raise display price that much and you can buy it just because of other specs, G-sync monitors are very overpriced and buying one without taking befit from g-sync that made monitor cost that much makes little sense. Especially if you can get 1440p 144 Hz IPS FreeSync for the same price as this Dell which is TN and you will have no use of g-sync. I mean Asus MG279Q. It has a lot of bad reviews and quality problems so you can get Acer xg270hu, TN for 100 dollars less. Both won't reach quality of Dell but I guess its still better than paying extra over 100$ for feature that you won't use.
