FPS sweetspot in a 60hz monitor

Error404

I've been searching about what is the sweetspot in fps for gaming in a 60 hz monitor, I've found this 5 answers.

1.-  60 FPS + no vsync

2.-  60 FPS + Vsync, (but input lag)

3.-  80 FPS  no vsync

4.-  120 FPS (The famous formula " 2 x RefreshRate + 1") (Somehow smother gameplay)

5.- The most FPS the better (Same as 3 but.. very smother)

What do you think is better?, What do you feel is better?

Thanks for answering! xD

well i tend to use vsynch(no alternatives, i use it cuz i get screentearing), if it locks to my monitors refreshrate(60hz). if i play bf4 for example, the latency becomes noticable, when i look to my side really fast i can feel that it doesn't happen immediately, because how the vsynch works. now if i don't use it, its more "snappy" , there is no latency, at least i can't feel any. that 61fps thing is bs

Locked 60fps is the smoothest you can get with a 60hz monitor without screen tearing. If you want maximum smoothness and little input lag, just turn off v sync.

What game? If you mean Dota 2 or CS:GO then by all means, use 300fps like normal people.

Depends on the game, in games like CSGO where response times are crucial i cap the fps at 120 but in  most other games i just lock it to 60. If its an older game that i can run with ease ill turn on vsync, if its a newer more demanding title that i wont get a constant 60 fps on then ill turn vsync off since its smoother without vsync when you go below 60.

1.-  60 FPS lock (Cause your monitor can't show more anyways, and you don't overuse your GPU)

2.-  61 FPS lock (Same as 1, but Idk what this fps change)

3.-  121 FPS lock (The famous formula " 2 x RefreshRate + 1") (Somehow smother gameplay)

4.- The most FPS the better (Same as 3 but.. very smother)

5.- 60 FPS + Vsync, (but input lag)

1. prolly the best

2. it creates tear in certain monitors

3. major tearing

4. worse than 3.

5. same as 1.

Higher FPS will still make aiming easier even if you use a 60hz monitor. Dont know about dota but in csgo everyone does it, ive lowered my settings a bit to get a constant 120 fps in game at all times. Also if you cap your fps your aim will be more consistent since the fps stays the same.

I understand that different games will be different, and yeah, it depends. But can't we unify the answers?, If CSGO feels better with a 120 FPS cap, don't the experience at 120 FPS should be just better in all games?.

So would you play games where the response time matters like CSGO at 60 FPS?

well if u can deal with tearing, higher response time is always better in competitive gameplays

62 with vsync on i find works well, the extra 2fps acts as a buffer against stutter...
