So, being a part of this awesome forum community full of enthusiasts, we decided to see if we could paint a more accurate picture of the current state of the "VR for PC" market. If you plan on using your gaming PC for VR, please take part in this test. Run the SteamVR Performance Test that Valve currently has available (through steam, you can find it at this link), and once you have your results, please do the following: 1. Comment below listing the following specs of your PC: Rig name Cpu Gpu Ram Score 2. Add a screenshot of your SteamVR Performance Test results. 3. Answer the poll question in this thread. And that is all we need! Thanks so much for taking part in this fun little survey - let's see how many of you are truly ready for VR gaming! If you thought this was cool and want to take part in another fun survey that we have here on the forum, check out @Jumper118's Cinebench R15 thread here. Hey, here are my results : Steam VR Test: I will admit, I am using an old driver because The latest Crimson driver is giving me problems in the two primary games I play, may this may have had an effect on this test: Cinebench : COMMENT=MAXON CINEBENCH is based on the high performance animation and rendering software MAXON CINEMA 4D. Posted March 10, 2016 Well, I see a lot of "inconsistent" results in here based on what someone would expect from each machine's specs. I'm guessing the test "scales" its quality settings without actually telling you it did (or exactly WHAT it did) so I guess... I don't really know. I mean, does the following look a bit weird to you? -I get a 5,7 score with an FX8320 and a r9 290 -Anon4495 gets a 3,3 score with a T7500 and a GTX 780 (my score is 72% better (which is in itself too high given the GPUs) than this even though It shows I dropped frames while he doesn't but for some reason I get a "better" curve even though I dropped frames) -Saaq gets a score of 7,4 a with 4690 and a GTX 970 (my score is 30% worse than that and given the fact that a 290 is not 30% slower than a 970 (even overclocked) it must be the CPU, but it doesn't say that I am CPU bound, it only dropped 2 frames on the CPU from the 10000 or so total frames...) -NikolastGR gets a score of 2,9 (my score is 96% better than that (which again can't be the fault of just the 960) so maybe it's the i3, but again... he didn't drop any frames due to the i3, although I did...) And that's just four setups from the bottom of this page alone, there are more than 60 pages as I write this... It really seems all over the place. EDIT: I browsed through some of the pages and the GTXs seem to be doing worse than I would expect (with the exception of the 980 which seems to pull way ahead)... Also, sometimes CPU speed seems to matter and sometimes not so much. I doesn't seem core count matters at all, although it probably does when you get below 4 but above that it doesn't seem to be. EDIT2: Some 580s seem to past the test (they get better scores than me) but some others get a 0,1 for some reason. Perhaps the test is not really ready yet...? Posted March 10, 2016 "Photon" i7-5820k (stock 3.3Ghz) GTX 970 (stock) 16GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance (quad-ch, no XMP profile set) Think I would have gotten a better score if I had my CPU overclocked and if I also had my 970 OCd, too. Don't know why my specific model # of DDR4 isn't in Speccy's hardware database. Well, I'm ready for it. Won't ever use VR, but at least I'm able to run it.
