Technically, the Core i3 6100 can beat the 4460, even in some heavily threaded games:

Skylake has a higher IPC (instructions per clock) but a lower clock speed -- the two basically balance out.

6400 way worse performance per dollar, the 6500 is way better :D

Not really. The 6400 is $20 cheaper, which is a 10% difference. The 6500 will likely not give 10% more performance from its 300mhz boost clock. Technically, the difference is only 200mhz, if we compare quad core boost charts. All 4 cores of the 6400 can boost to 3100mhz. All 4 cores of the 6500 can boost to 3300mhz. Less than a 6.5% difference in clock speeds. You cannot tell me a 6.5% difference in clock speeds will equate to 10% more performance, which is what is required to justify the 10% difference in prices.

2. lol k, enjoy getting worse performance for your money. A 4690k will outclass a 6400 in every single way, and a 6700k is NEVER going to make a difference to the life of your system compared to a 4790k. If a 4790k won't be able to handle something, than neither will a 6700k.

Exactly. Saying it has "way worse performance per dollar" would also be wrong in that context too, right? It would depend entirely on the geographical location of the consumer, any sales going on during that specific day, and other promotional factors. Either way, if we look strictly at Intel's MSRP prices, the 6400 has better price:performance when compared to the 6500. The only way i would recommend the 6500 over the 6400, is if someone is playing a lot of MMO's and needs the single threaded performance. Even then, an i3 clocked at 3.7 or even 3.9 would probably be a better performer on MMO's.
