I personally prefer Windows 7. Neither is particularly better than the other, so go for the one you prefer the UI and feel of.

Definitely Win7. 8.1 is a bandaid over the ugly and bloody experimental mess that was 8.0.

If you don't mind the potential privacy issues and updates being forced on you, also think about Win10. It's a better OS than 7 or 8.1 under the hood. (The aforementioned issues are keeping me away though). I really need to actually read the OP before I post...

Alright, which games are causing you problems? Also, have you overclocked your CPU and GPU?

He just said windows 10 doesn't run right, why would you recommend it again

I vote windows 7 (pro btw) op, just make sure you block the windows 10 updates.

Check out this guide to prevent telemetry updates from installing in Windows 7, and to prevent Windows 10 update notifications from appearing:

It depends.

If you have anything other than keyboard, mouse and mic as input devices, Windows 8

If you have only keyb and mouse, Windows 7

well windows 7 is better IMO because i REALLY REALLY hate windows 8 and 8.1 because they were so annoying to use without a touch display, there OK for something like a tablet or a phone and possibly a laptop with touch but not a desktop PC

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)
