2x 120mm Fans vs 1x 140mm Fan?

cliodude1

I plan on getting a Corsair Obsidian 350D for my build, and I'm not sure which fans to add because here in the summer, where I will locate my computer is gonna get very hot :P Should I go for 2 120mm fans in the front or add another 140mm fan for exhaust?

as far as i know getting air in is just as important as getting air out. Id go with getting more air in.

I live in texas and the single 140mm is pretty good its also ideal for the front intake. However either should be fine

2x120 would probably get you more air depending on the model, but the 140 would get you a little less air and would be much quieter.

Either is fine--just get good fans.

here's a good way to explain it: Kraken x40 (140 mm rad) vs H100 (2x120 mm rad) which has better temps?

I would just maintain a positive air pressure in your case. I would personally get 2 x 120mm fans in the front as intake and move the 140mm fan to the top for exhaust.

I live in Texas too, if your house is airconditioned than region really wouldn't make a difference.

Either is fine.

Though I personally would go with 2 x 120mm fans.

Make sure they're good quality (i,e. spend some money on them, it's worth it in quietness and performance).

just get a good airflow, if your gpu is the main heat issue then get 120x2 fans with focused airflow so it'll try to blow most of the hot air through the back, whatever's leftover make sure you have the fans on top running well :)

Check out the build: Used to be Obot, now Lilith

Maybe you should look in to water cooling. It will save you money in the long run

Watercooling does nothing to cool the room down, you're still getting rid of the same amount of heat that your parts create, it's just being removed via the radiators, instead of fans/fins on your gfx cards etc.
