I think it's time to revisit Windows 10

LokiFire

This is all my Windows 7 install does now... high idle CPU & RAM usage and nothing else.

Win 10 never did this, let's hope Win 10 remains stable this time.

Im using the same amount of ram.

But alot less CPU usage but that is due to having a much more powerful CPU

So going from 1-3% idle to 25 with spikes to above 50 is normal to you?

I don't think it looks good.

Yeah, try with a different OS like windows 10. I believe Microsoft was tampering with the older OS through updates to enforce the windows 10 update.

Yep seeing as my pc does the same thing and has since the day I built it almost 2 years ago and ive never had a problem with my system bogging down.

The cpu usage seems a tad high for doing nothing, but that ram usage is not out of the ordinary...

I usually sit at 1.3GB this install is bare.. nothing runs except Origin and Steam which are very light apps when not downloading.

That screen cap was of a fresh install as well (literally just installed it 30 mins back).

Unless you are using a 32 bit install, I dont know how you only get 1.3gb of ram usage...

Edit: NVM, I closed chrome and the ram usage dropped to 1.1gb xD

Look to the left at the top process.

RAM usage suddenly dropped.

I installed Windows 10 about a month after it came out, and I've not had any problems, though I was upgrading from 8.1 to Ten.

I didn't really have any problems in 8.1 either. I don't maybe I'm just weird like that. Or maybe I'm just a Windows Fanboy.

I think operating systems are like political systems. Windows is a horrible desktop OS, it just happens to be the best one we have.

"best" is a strong word, and probably not the right one in this case.  Maybe "most useful", simply because the most programs run on it (for now)

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.
