Is it still the 295X2? Any idea on when the Fury X2 or 'Gemini' will be released?

The reason I ask is because my friend was planning on buying a 980 Ti Classy, and of course I can't be outdone. I know that the 980 Ti is probably the most 'powerful' single chip (even though the Fury X is a lot faster in raw performance than both the 980 Ti and Titan X). I told him to wait for Polaris or Pascal, should I wait too? I was planning on a 390X or R9 Nano but I might as well get a big upgrade as well if I'm going to.

Edit: By single most powerful GPU, I mean a single card. Doesn't matter if it has two chips or whatever.

TITAN X

Ha, funny.

Maybe if it was cooled and powered properly, but the 980 Ti is faster 9/10. I don't even like Nvidia so I automatically lean for the Fury X, but I know the 980 Ti is a fast card (currently).

It doesn't have to be a single chip, just a single card.

That's still TITAN X.

295x2 is not a very safe card to purchase if you value your sanity.

Reason? It's two overclocked 290X chips on one board, seems badass enough to me.

I still like my 290, would be awesome to have more than double the power. Card is quite lengthy though.

Fires might seem badass to you, and it may sound like i am making bad jokes, but erm actually the 295x2 does draw so much damn power the cables will melt.. it's actually real.

That is super awesome xD

I understand though, it's power hungry. I already have a reference 290 though so I know how hot these cards get.

It'll work fine on a decent power supply. It's still the most powerful single card you can get and beats the Titan X by a significant margin in cf supported games and raw compute performance.

Talk your parents into buying you a new board (in a couple of months). You just cant let your friend out do you!!!!!

If I could get a couple of top tier Polaris cards then I would move to mATX. But just one card is going to be pushing it as I'm sure my parents don't like spending $600+ on a PC part.

How about the Fury X2? Any idea on pricing and such? Maybe I should just keep waiting for Polaris since I'm upgrading in a few months anyway?

It's not that hot actually from the vid. The Titan X was the joke of Reddit for a while because of the extremely hot VRMs and such.

But it's Nvidia....

I know the Fury X is still slower than an aftermarket 980 Ti, but based on what we've seen so far, do you think it will eventually surpass in performance? I mean, in raw power it's way more powerful than a Titan X or 980 Ti.

Yeah dude. I'd wait for Polaris. 290 is still a beast. Fiji is still really hot for my taste. Not to mention the 4gb frame buffer.
