VRMs can take a lot higher temperatures than the GPU core can.

For comparison sake my GTX 580 only hit's 80c on the VRM's pushing a none stock Volt mod bios on air.

Yeah dude. I'd wait for Polaris. 290 is still a beast. Fiji is still really hot for my taste. Not to mention the 4gb frame buffer.

Yeah, I suppose so. Just kind of annoying that I finally get a card that's at the same level as most of my friend's cards (all 970s) and then he just goes and gets a 980 Ti.... xD

But drivers are still improving.... My 290 is pretty much on par with a 970 by now.

Yes, let's all purchase our GPUs from AMD, ahem, I mean, Raedeon Technologies, it might save them, seeing as they are losing a lot of money, fast.

One guy purchasing a card ain't gonna help much.

103c is not that hot? LOL

Not for the VRMs on a dual GPU card which can be fixed with better thermal pads. In my experience the VRM temps drop really fast as well.

All joking aside if you are hell bent on getting a 295x2 then get it. It seems you have done your research and know what proper psu and additional cooling to get that beast. I run 290x in xfire on a 750 watt corsair psu and am fine. Most ppl are just p whipped on the titan x. All that vram on the titan is really tempting. Me, I say go for the titan. Gaming at higher rez will benefit from it.

The VRMs are air cooled on the 295x2. It's also a much more power hungry and beefy chip compared to the 580

If you are happy with passed boiling point temps in your PC then sure, 103c is DANGEROUS.

The Mosfets in most VRMs are rated to run at 125c. And no, I hate high temps. Which is why I run all my main components liquid cooled.

How am I wrong? The 980 Ti is faster 9 times out of 10 because the AIB partners are allowed to put custom VRMs and cooling solutions that properly power the chip, which makes up for the shader cut. The Titan X is limited by it's inferior reference cooler and the VRMs, they just weren't designed to handle the Titan X core.

And as for me liking the Fury X, get over it. I like AMD and the Fury X's compute performance is much, much higher than that of a 980 Ti and Fury X. It destroys both in OpenCL applications.

That was really a joke, pointing out the bad choice to purchase anything from Raedeon Technologies.

It's not a bad choice. AMD makes great cards, and I like them as do a lot of others.

Nvidia on the other hand, talk about ethics.... At least they have good drivers I guess.

Bruh. It's a GPU. It's literally doing millions of calculations by shooting electrons across a circuit board. It's not a living thing or something. It's fine

Actually why are there even fanboys for stuff like GPUs? Until GPUs drive Ultrawide 8k at 1000fps and give me a backrub and compliments while they're at it, I'm not not being a fanboy for anybody.

For the world of single PCB GPU's, the R9 295X2 is still probably the most powerful, assuming decent CF support in games.

But it's Nvidia....

I know the Fury X is still slower than an aftermarket 980 Ti, but based on what we've seen so far, do you think it will eventually surpass in performance? I mean, in raw power it's way more powerful than a Titan X or 980 Ti.
