An old PC as a Minecraft PE Server?

Djole123

I just wanted to ask is it somehow possible to use an old computer for hosting an MCPE server? It's probably going to be local with no more than 5 people on it. Specs are unknown, but I know that it's an old AMD.

Athlon X2 for only 27.31$   Best part lists at different price points   Windows 1.01 running natively on an Eee PC

My rig:

Spoiler

Celeronator (new main rig)

CPU: Intel Celeron (duh) N2840 2.16GHz Dual Core

RAM: 4GB DDR3 1333MHz

HDD: Seagate 500GB

GPU: Intel HD Graphics 3000 Series

Spoiler

Frankenhertz (ex main rig)

CPU: Intel Atom N2600 1.6GHz Dual Core

RAM: 1GB DDR3-800

HDD: HGST 320GB

GPU: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3600

As long as it's got an OS it could probably do it.

Install an OS like Ubuntu Server or Debian (without a GUI) and try it out.

Or you can install mineos. Its a free turnkey-based linux distro with a custom minecraft web control panel on it.

My native language is C++

IMO its not worth using an OS like MineOS as it will degrade the learning experience. I'm fairly sure it does not support pocket edition either. Use a free OS like CentOS (my personal favorite) and watch some YouTube videos to learn the basics. It's really worth it and can actually be quite a bit of fun. :D

EDIT: Here is a link to PocketMine, the MC PE server software https://www.pocketmine.net/

CentOS is my favorite too (*highfive*). But I got started on Debian and I think it's easier for beginners to understand.
