In our school they claim it uses too much bandwidth, but they don't block anything really. So everyone uses it anyways. They say that we  can listen to locally stored music but it doesn't really matter, they just put the rules down for say

Probably because students are using government resources for their own entertainment that is not directly linked to their learning!

 

If you want to listen music, download the MP3s and if your teacher is ok with you listen to your music that way

 

Schools do not have to provide none educational resources to students!!!

Teachers and students listen to music sometimes.  Downloading MP3s is against YouTube's TOS.

 

 

Just put music on your device? That what most people do.

I stream music and also have some of it offline using streaming services.

 

I don't pirate music or RIP MP3s.

My previous school block any music streaming services, youtube, instructables, thingiverse, LTT, pretty much everything. My new school still blocks pandora, but psiphon gets me past the filters here. Fastest free VPN, I have ever seen...

iTunes is rubbish. CDs can go suck balls.

Music CDs are pretty much still relevant today. And many people actually use Itunes to PURCHASE their songs, not just play some music. I do it to sometimes even when I own no iphone or ipod. There's plenty more places where you can download and buy songs so no excuse really.

That's one way to beat the streaming limitation. Save everything offline. Good to have phone with expandable storage. 

 

As for Itunes, I believe all the songs are DRM free anyway so you can purchase them and save it to your phone or even upload it to Onedrive. I kinda like Itunes songs bitrate and format.

Erm millions of people use iTunes, i buy all my music and movies there, unless I buy my music on CD - CD being the best quality audio files available and I can just rip them onto my PC into a 320kbps file for local playback

 

iTunes is not rubbish, it has an amazing library, and is fairly priced, with decent sales - all iTunes music is DRM free and in 320kbps AAC which is really good

 

CD audio gives you lossless quality audio files and is archived forever on its own disc and you can rip it

Because schools are places for learning? At least they understand that in China... Here in America, all school is, is a place to overdose on ecstasy and for students to have sex behind the lockers.

Yeah, music, sure, but you can get that online elsewhere and listen to it offline.

Very funny because it is true. My school you can just DDOS the network, use aircrack, set payloads on phones, and remote shutdown other computers but if some kids friends brothers other friend thinks maybe he heard jimmy once talked about weed they lock the school down and have drug dogs search the whole place. I wish education was taken a bit more seriously in the US. Maybe at lunch and on the bus you can relax, but otherwise you should be working.

Saying something that is untrue/a mistake  is a lie is rather aggresive.  Perhaps a "it isn't, it is actually ..." or "I think you may be mistaken there, it's actually ...".

Mind you with the amount of swearing you do to just comment on other people's posts this will probably go right over your head and you will 'say' something like 'FU I will 'talk' how I want'.

Like everyone said before, it is a bandwidth hog as well as a distraction. On top of that it has a chat feature and most schools don't like students being able to talk over a chat program, especially when they take tests online
