Two R9 390X2 or one Titan X

Darts401

I'm planning my build that will be built soon and I can't decide between two R9 390x2s or a single Titan X. Opinions?

Laptop specs:

CPU: Core i7 3630QM

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT630M

RAM: 16gb of unknown origin

Storage: 1tb HDD (probably going to upgrade to an SSD at some point)

Mouse: Corsair M65 Pro RGB

I mean, the 390s will kick the shit out of the Titan X. But, tons (I mean tons, not just 60w) more power to run them, after all, it's 4 390's. Also, not all games support CrossfireX, and when using 4x crossfire there will be a lot of stuttering.

I'd recommend 2 980ti's.

I used to be quite active here.

Yes. But, each 980ti is almost the same as a Titan X, a single 980ti beating the Titan X in lots of games. Two 980ti's will smoke a Titan X, use less power than the 390's, and will stutter less.

4-way generally doesn't scale well, I would get 2 980ti's or possibly 2 R9 nanos. 2 nanos will do better than a titan X, but They'll suffer at high res due to low vram

I can't really fit two 980ti's in my budget without going over my budget.

Get 1 980 ti. It performs the same as a Titan X.

Two 980ti's, much better investment with less headaches from heat issues.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Then 2 R9 Nano's. They're $500 USD each. Or, a single 980ti, then wait a bit to buy another one.

You obviously have TONS of money for GPU's, what's the rest of the build?

You're best bet is R9 Nanos then. They'll thermal throttle air cooled, but you could water cool the later on. unless you want to game at 4k, the get a 980ti, and wait a little while, and buy another one.

It takes two Nanos to equal one 295x2. I wouldn't waste money on a Nano.

R9 390x2 from Powercolor. (Or Powercolor Devil 13)

Two R9 390's in one GPU, and SLI'ing them sounds like a good way to either cut your national grid off nationally, or causing your computer to burn up/blow yourself to mars; which advances NASA's space program.

*sigh* It's called Crossfire on AMD's side. Also, one graphics card*, one GPU would indicate 2 processing units inside one die.
