i5 6600k or i7 6700k?

Not exactly true.  A 2002 p4 clocked higher than a lower clocked modern processor is not exactly going to perform better.  

 

Note how I said "if the architecture is the same". Since we were comparing the 6600k and the 6700k (both skylake) this would apply.

i7 cost about $100 more over the i5. HT on the i7 can benefit from certain workloads and it has more cache over the i5.
