The next version of andorid is coming... and it is called "Kit Kat".

It is confirmed by Google's SVP Sundar Pichai, by the way of a photo, via Google+ and twitter...

Odd choice of naming. I sense an incoming Nestle lawsuit. Unless Nestle is somehow sponsoring it.

 

This should also allow hardware support for far longer than the usual 1-2 years of updates most devices get.

Google obviously gained permission to use the Kitkat brand. I don't think any company would be stupid enough to use a copyright name without permission, you'd be asking for trouble if that was the case. Anyway I checked kitkats faecbook page and they're also posting tons of information about it also.

If anything, it is the oppisite. Kitkat gets a lot of free advertising, so it would be stupid if google had to pay for it, kitkat probably payed google. I want a kitkat.

Nothing has been said yet. Its only just been announced, I expect Android and Google to keep tight lipped on the new features.
