Xeon X3210, X3220 vs C2Q Q8400

I'm looking for the best price-to-performance ratio as possible. PRICE-TO-PERFORMANCE

I wanna play CS:GO at 800x600 at all low. My C2D E7400 gives me decent 70-100+ fps (sometimes even 200) but stutters a lot in smoke and when there are a lot of bots (in firefights, etc.) What CPU would stabilize my fps well within the 75fps range?

Intel Xeon X3210 ($21 USD)

the Q8400 is the faster chip amongst those...and very likely the best bang for buck as well...it's old tho and won't be very good.

What will this be used for? facebook?

EDIT: well...bang for the buck would actually be the X3210 for 21$ but it look beat up as fuck on the picture...

you also get the heatsink fan with it...so if you need one then it's really the better deal...if it's still working.

its roughly 25% faster, but its also twice as expensive.

so my "price per performance" vote is on the xeon 3210.

Well, in a price to performance the slower Xeon is around the same as that, but that doesn't mean they perform at the same level.  But, isn't the second Xeon there slightly better in every aspect?

no the Q8400 is faster across the board...it's built on a newer 45nm architecture.

Ya, I just noticed that after game-debate schooled me.

use the link i posted...there is A TON of CPU in there you can compare them and those are user submitted results...so they are 100% reliable information.

GPU database is really nice too.

Would any of these eliminate the stutters that I have on CS:GO from running a Core 2 Duo E7400?

Grab that Q8400, newer chip, faster single core and lower power consumption.

And yes that should eliminate stutters being a Quad Core, the Core 2 Quads are amazing chips so you should be very happy :)

most likely yes...the Q8400 is a good quad-core for that...it's slow compared to modern day CPU's but it's a lot better than the old dual core.

Apparently the Quad has lower cache than the Xeons.

can you get an x or e5450 that would be best

Xeon 3210 would probably be best bang for the buck but at this point in time the oldest hardware I'd suggest actually using is Nahalem/Westmere, which still has great bang for the buck,  for example I have 2 cheap friend/customers (I do tech work for a living including, PC building and help with part selection for used PCs) in December I purchased a friend a Westmere, Xeon, 8threads, triple channel DDR3(12GB) and a board that supports another CPU and 6Core/12Thread Xeons with a cooler for the 1 cpu.... for around $140 USD...  About a week ago, a friend of mine had me set him up with stuff like Linus' $150 8Core setup, and well, yeah it was actually more expensive for nothing better  I believe my final bill was $145.50 for the LGA 771 setup vs 1366 which was $138.00 where 1366 supports way better features including SATA2 (sometimes even 3) PCIe2 (sometimes even SLI/CFX) DDR3 triple channel, upwards of 16/32 Threads in a single system vs 8Cores max, More power efficiency, Better overclocking,  Better IPC, just tons better

This.

Those Xeon's are faster at stock and will perform like FX8 in games when overclocked over 4Ghz.

Going from my Core 2 Duo E8500 to a Xeon X5450 was like "holy shit". I was able to play games smoothly and at 60fps. (Though I've discovered that with the 65nm quad cores, you need them to be running at 3.6GHz to have games run smoothly).

You wouldn't say that if it was a $50 E0 stepping Xeon X5450....

This is vastly wrong and you should feel bad for thinking as such... Fx8150 is on par with nahalem i7s at the same clock rate which is a generation newer than those xeons and its a relatively large generational gap... Fx 8350s are just below sandy bridge i7s and just above westmere i7s so roughly 2.5 generations better than those xeons Ltt even did a video of those Xeons vs 8350s and the 8350 beat them in any CPU load easily

You can mod 771 CPUs to work in 775 motherboards and usually get great over clocks
