I don't think it would be. Unless you're going to be editing for a profession, or constantly as a hobby.

I have a feeling the i7 would be just as good, especially if it's first and foremost a gaming machine, like it sounds.

Unless you have a really old system, like a first gen i series and you have to replace everything anyway.

Maybe, but at least I'll have an X99 motherboard that's done service on more than two generations of i7 processor
