Which was basically a souped up dual-core Coppermine/Tualatin Pentium III, and the Athlon X2 just beat its ass anyway. Once Core 2 came around, though, AMD started slipping up.

Pretty sure the original Core Duo was literally a Pentium M die shrink/added core with SSE3 and was only a thing for mobiles

Nah, it was an actual thing, but iirc you couldn't really get them in America, you had to import them from Japan or somewhere like that... it was awful.

Some info as reference would be nice (I like learning). I can only find stuff about the Xeon-LPs which were still using the Socket-M (MGA479) design with mobile chipsets (945GM/965GM etc).
