AT&T Brings Back Unlimited - With a Catch

Suika

Huh you pay insurance...

I just have the 2 year contract thing with no insurance.

My dad has unlimited data, sad thing is that he still uses a old phone. Samsung Galaxy Nexus....

The $8 insurance covers for battery damage and screen/LCD protection though I told my mom I can buy a battery for $10, a screen for $20 or less though the LCD is nice since those are like $70...

Well if you take care of your phone, then i doubt i see the point of a insurance.

Glass Screen Protector+Case=20 dollars and done.

The Lumia 735 needs  case, the battery cover is so cheap. Mine is chipped in 2 areas and cracked in 2. The screen is rock solid though I have a screen protector anyways. Oh the back cracked after dropping it 3 feet off the ground

Once again we are talking about mobile plans here, not home lines.

Living in a rural town I can say most of the people get near the 16Mbit/s average (~2Mbyte/s), which isn't to bad (Telstra on that $130 plan - 1TB), and fixed wireless nbn was just activated as well. Bringing the max speed up to a possible 50Mbit/s.

Although for whatever reason Telstra doesn't seem to support the 50Mbit/s on fixed wireless and only does the 25Mbit/s.

Yeah, I know the OP is about mobile but the post I replied to was in relation to Cable and I just thought I'd point out the fact it's not available to everyone. Yes, Mobile in Australia is actually pretty good and Telstra don't support 50Mbit/s yet because they probably have too much congestion on the signal anyway. Apparently people on 50Mbit wireless rarely get over 25 anyway.

Ahh that's news to me, although they did keep telling me it's not a guaranteed speed, so I was thinking it would be quite a bit less. Hopefully Telstra can up it's game by the time we decide to transfer over to it, haven't done it yet, as we want to keep the landline for reasons.

Currently in Sydney for work, and finally got a 4GX compatible device. So when I found a spot with full signal, I did a speedtest. ~110mbit/s down and over 40mbit/s up, better then any broadband connection I've ever had :/ Also it chewed up like 150mb of data :/

while i feel thats a good compromise and much better then " thats not a thing we offer" its still kinda stupid and overpriced imo.

Good thing im grandfathered in off them :P

Atm I am on ADSL2+ like most people, I think it's terrible that people still don't have decent internet. I live in Sydney (a few KM from CBD) so I am getting FTTB from TPG Soon (: But yeah, on mobile in Sydney I get usually 80-120Mbit download and 20-40Mbit upload on Vodafone.

EDIT: Btw I heard a lot of people in the wireless nbn footprint will be getting upgraded to MTM (likely FTTN) to reduce congestion on the network. You might be one of those people.

Once again news to me, any source on that, or was it by word of mouth?

Either way I don't think it would be us, as they only just built the tower for it, and are still building another close by. Not that I'll argue with them if they want to do it, cause I'm close to the node so no noticeable speed lost.

I can't actually seem to find any articles on it right now but I am certain it was talked about on ABC news around when Turnbull was talking about the innovation thing to do with regional and rural areas.
