Does gsync really make a big difference?

Depends on the games you play. In the short time I had my Swift, GSync made more of a noticeable difference than 144Hz did - although with the games I play (think The Witcher 3 and so on) you're never getting to 144 FPS anyway.

If you can hold whatever your target fps is the vast majority of the time, no it doesn't make a difference.

If you cant, or decide to let the game free-range then it is a huge deal.

Thanks guys I think I will end getting a gsync monitors, do you guys have any recommendations? A 1080p monitor would probably be best since I have a 970.

huge difference. Go somewhere and try it out for yourself. Its very obvious especially on more hardcore games ( witcher 3)

Yes but not so much at high refresh rates. I t find 144hz without vsync is quite smooth but what gsync seems to give me is the feeling the image is more solid. I don't see the tear lines directly but my brain registers something is wrong whereas gsync fixes that feeling and everything looks a little bit cleaner. But below 60hz its a big difference, gsync is quite a bit smoother and where with vsync I wont play below 60 and prefer 90 with gsync I can play down to about 45 before I really get annoyed and 60 is just fine.

It allowed me to increase the graphics options a bit as I could live with a lower frame rate and it made games like Arma 3 a lot less irritating to play due to their low FPS.
