Name aside, that's actually a pretty bitchin looking motherboard, for the X99. Personally, I don't like such a large heatsink on the chipset (like the asus sabertooth's armor), because I like seeing the bare pcb, but other than that, not bad. I Like the classy look of my X99 deluxe better though. Nice of msi to finally get the memo of black and neutral colors if you're having rgb colors.

 

And it comes with a U.2 connector card, nice.

I'd get the X99A Godlike but just to turn off the RGB lighting because I like the understated look :P

Atleast they're using neutral colors for the board instead of the original board which was red...What's the point of RGB lighting on a red board?

how are you meant to run cables with the overhang on the Z170 board., and they are both hideous.

If MSI started making monitors they would release them each December and name them Linus' Certified Best Monitor Yet 2016 (2017, 2018... and so on). Instead of Asus ROG PG278Q Swift with Gsync.

I run my browser through NSA ports to make their illegal jobs easier. :P

I like the Godlike Carbon more than the normal Godlike due to that damn color scheme and the back-layout of USB, ethernet, and all that.  Prefer that far better.  If it is Broadwell-E compatible from the get-go.. I'll take it.

Yes but they are minor feature differences like slightly improved audio and apparently the new carbon has gen 1 USB 3.1 and Gen 2 USB 3.1 ports.
