Can't just upgrade macs sadly,

 

For the price it isn't terrible, I'd like to see the exact CPU's used and I assume you meant 16GB of ram not 15GB (1x8, 1x4, 1x2, 1x1 anyone??)

Macs aren't usually worth the money. You would be better of building a Hackintosh if you need OS X.

Macs are good value at launch, however, Apple does not put the prices down, so they just get worse and worse value.

 

As for hackintoshing, it is against the EULA and is unstable, whenever you update, there is a fear that it will not start properly.

 

If it is really that cheap, buy it now.

You can upgrade GPUs in a Mac Pro.

This is really bad laptop/notebook/mobile workstation. ONLY DUAL CORE CPU!?!?!?!?? and 3 (3!!!) generations old LOW-END GPU and ONLY 250GB HDD? No. just no.

 

Build a PC... or if you really need mobility, buy a good laptop (ask for a good one somewhere on this forums or maybe other laptop-oriented forums).

I mean, you can do this on a non-workstation CPU like a 4670K. I do this on a 3570K. The Mac Pro he's listing is from 2006. It would slug it's way from start to finish.

 

Dual-core Xeon is at 2.66GHz and the ram is 1333 MHz.

 

Then your GPU is pretty much ancient by today's standards.

Are you dead set on Mac? They're pretty expensive. But you get what you pay for. Screen and build quality are generally the best on the market, but the internals aren't always top of the line.

 

Like last year's rMBP only had 1GB of GPU memory.

Great, so it has 2x crappy old dual cores. Just great. how is 2x 2 cores any good? Such an old tech probably has troube handling multitasking.

It's not as bad as running Window XP on a Pentium 4...

Are you dead set on Mac? They're pretty expensive. But you get what you pay for. Screen and build quality are generally the best on the market, but the internals aren't always top of the line.

It's about 7 years old. It's still an old PC. I guess two quad cores would be better than two dual cores, but still. GPU is ancient.
