cpu: Intel 4th Gen. i7-4710MQ 2.5GHz(Turbo 3.5GHz)

 

gpu: Nvidia GT 940M Graphics 2GB DDR3 Dedicated VGA

 

ram: 8gb ddr3

 

resolution 1080p and on medium settings, hoping for at lest 30-40fps

Yes it will. I have an i3-2130, 4gb of ram and a r7 260x and I get 30-45 fps on high settings.

768p - yes
1080p - no

yes but its garbage. get something that can run a  game at proper fps

Medium on GTA V is "high", but if my Athlon 620/ GTX 550ti can do it your laptop can probably do it too, but the DDR3 VRAM will probably hold you back. You might have to lower your resolution because of this.

550 Ti = 850M/950M

940M won't cut it as that's around a 450 or 540

My brother has a gt750m and he runs the game fine on high settings.

 

Wait nvm on 768p :P

750M with GDDR5 > 940M with DDR3
