$50 AMD Light Weight Gaming Build

Jacktastic-Mofo

Hey guys, so recently I built a PC called Little Ass Kicker for $150 and boy does that thing kick ass for the price- but after a while I realized that $150 was too easy to do, and I needed to go cheaper. So now I bring to you-

                                                 Fiddy

Most of the parts have been ordered and will be delivered soon, here is what they are-

  • AMD Althon II X2 B22 (2.8Ghz, Dual Core)
  • AMD Stock AM3+ Cooler
  • 2x2GB's Samsung DDR3 1333Mhz RAM
  • Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3 Motherboard
  • AMD Radeon HD 6350 (512MB VRAM)
  • Western Digital 1TB WD Green
  • Antec Earthwatts 380W 80+ PSU

So far I'm at about $40 meaning I have a budget of only $10 for a case.

The goal of this system will be to play Source Engine games at 720p with medium / high settings as well as similarly difficult to run titles. If you think this is interesting follow along, it'll be interesting.

You could probably look around for a broken or plain outdated PC, and use the case from that. Quite a few people are willing to just give them away.

Yeah, I've been swinging by my local salvation army and savers looking to see if there are any old PC's, none yet.

Nope this PC is only $50, the other one mentioned was $150 and that one is in my sig, it has a Q6600 and a GT 640.

Look for thrift stores... they sell things extremely cheap! I bought 5 laptops for $300 and then made a profit of 500 off reselling them.

Craigslist maybe? Or people that you might know? No harm in asking around. Even a teacher of mine had some old Compaq that she gave me (with an Athlon 64 and 512MB of RAM running XP).

Should have done a build log for my current PC. It's cost me around $150 (CAD, around $110 USD atm) so far, but for a Q8200 and a HD 6970, I really can't complain. It needs more RAM, but I'm at 3GB of DDR2 and the mobo can only take 4GB, not sure if I should just save up for a new mobo, CPU, and DDR3 RAM instead.

I had an older case you coulda had for like 5 dollars lol. I threw it out yesterday because it was taking up too much space in my room.

Edit: can you make a sequel build named "twee fiddy"

Here you can see everything installed and looking good. You can even see the custom RAM heat spreaders made of painters tape. I also ordered a second HD 6350 to run them in Crossfire for a little bit better performace in games.

Yes,

GTA V at 4k with Ultra settings. Also wanna see some Minesweeper benchmarks.

Seriously though, things like CSGO, LoL, Minecraft, the bigger games you see people playing. A build like this would be a great gift for one of my friends if it can run LoL & CSGO at 720p

Holy crap! This would destroy in performance value and possibly even performance scores in a scrapyard wars.

Also this build should be renamed "$50 console killer".
