What should I do with my old parts?

Brennan Price

I have a few old PC parts lying around and I feel that I should put them to good use. I have an amd hd 4550, 2GB of ddr2 ram, a 150W power supply and thats about it. I dont know what I should do with them as they are too old to be wanted by someone on ebay. Should I just have them lying around and upgrade my PC. Or should I buy cheap parts on ebay and then use them for another build.

My Rig:

Xeon E5 1680 V2 @ 4.5GHz - Asus Rampage IV Extreme X79 Mobo - 64GB DDR3 1600MHz - 8 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance Low Profile - CAS 10-10-10-27 - AMD Radeon RX 6700XT Sapphire Pulse 12GB - DeepCool E-Shield E-ATX Tempered Glass Case - 1 x 1TB Crucial P1 NVMe SSD - BeQuiet Straight Power 11 850W Gold+ Quad rail - Fractal Design Celsius S36 & 6 x 120mm silent fans - Lenovo KBBH21 - Corsair Glaive RGB Pro - Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit

Monitors - 3 x Acer Nitro 23.8" 1080p 75Hz IPS 1ms Freesync Panels = AMD Eyefinity @ 75Hz

i think it would be a great home video converter etc. if u have old video tapes laying around to convert it to the computer, but mostly i don't think these part would be useful for anything else than that.

I built a frankenstein system out of old parts I had lying around. I use it now and then for troubleshooting other parts, but that is all the use I could get from it. It mostly sits on the shelf looking sad and dusty.

That is a good idea, but I suppose I could make it mini ITX and if it was not in use then it wouldnt get in the way much.

the ram could possibly be sold for a bit as ddr2 is no longer manufactured

I would make a media server out of it, if there wouldn't be that noise of the AMD stock cooler rotating at ~90k RPM.

Im not bothered about noise since a. it is gonna be shoved somewhere and nevre be seen again and b. the 4550 already makes a heck tonne of noise too.

that is an idea but ram doesnt go for much these days. I took it to a CEX store and they told me I could get 80p for both of the sticks together
