Any Knowledge On Broken Joints?

So, today I got my cast off after 4 weeks, my elbow joint was broken, and there was a fracture that went through the Trochlea and entered the Radius. After falling on a segway I couldnt extend my arm, so after a CT scan they discovered that I had a fracture. So after 4 weeks of cast I still cannot extend my arm. They say It Is beacuse the arm Is stiff caused by 4 weeks of cast (which makes sense) but right after the fracture (before the cast) I wasnt able to extend my arm either. I am currently able to extend It to about 120 degrees. Im thinking of going to a private doctor and have them look at It, the public health system In Norway Is complete and utter shit even with our high taxes. Has anyone ever broken any joints and had similar Issues?

Go to a doctor of course, why not. I had a catheter in my elbow pit for two weeks once so I had to keep it somewhat straight to feel comfortable, after they took it out I couldn't bend my arm for good two days.

That is abnormal. I broke my ankle badly this summer (bimalleolar fracture, metal plate and 10 screws later...) and was in a cast for 3.5 months; it came off three weeks ago. While I have limited flexion/extension, I do have some ROM and it gets better weekly.

 

Follow-up with a doctor if you have concerns.

Seriously? 1 Fucking year? Which joint? And how old were you?

That is abnormal. I broke my ankle badly this summer (bimalleolar fracture, metal plate and 10 screws later...) and was in a cast for 3.5 months; it came off three weeks ago. While I have limited flexion/extension, I do have some ROM and it gets better weekly.

 

Follow-up with a doctor if you have concerns.

I did ask the doctor but they said It will get better, If you read my post they said It was beacuse of the cast, If you further read my comment you'll understand why Im sceptic of that.

and they couldnt put it in a cast so i had to just deal with it until it healed lol

go to an orthopedist in Norway and if it is still no good go to Germany, they have the best orthopedists in Europe and probably the world

Well, If It doesent get better withing a few days Im just going to contact a private doctor and pay for treatment that works... This social system Is a fucking joke...

Social system is not a joke, you just have to take care of yourself, if you think they are wrong you should keep asking and asking and asking. You have to realize with how many people they deal with everyday. I know from personal experience that if you don't ask, you don't get.

Germany has excellent Orthopedists, but Im not going to travel to another country unless a last resort, but Germany Is first on my list.

Social system is not a joke, you just have to take care of yourself, if you think they are wrong you should keep asking and asking and asking. You have to realize with how many people they deal with everyday. I know from personal experience that if you don't ask, you don't get. 

 

On basis In Norway we pay 36% In taxes, If they cant provide us medical help but take our money, wtf not let us keep It and pay for ourselves... Ive personally always considered myself a socialist, and had a strong belief that It would be perfect, but recent events In this country Is slowly killing off my faith In a social democracy. Youre basically saying, you should pay 36% of your Income to them, but you shouldnt expect them to help you and Its your own fault

... and if you read my post and employ some critical thinking you'll understand that I'm in agreement with your scepticism as I was in a cast for a much longer period of time and did not lose total ROM as you have.

We pay 42% in Lithuania. And they do help you, but you need to ask. You think you need exercises? Ask for them. You think it's not right? Ask them to look into it again. honestly, public health system will do anything you ask if you have at least a bit of reason behind it and they will save your life without asking who you are. I think that's pretty good.

I have broke my right ankle twice, left ankle once and my wrist once.  I did not heal any of those in 4 weeks.  I have had ankle sprains that take longer than that to heal.  Rest it, give yourself some more time.

It's similar from what you said. They provide all the basic care and you went for a second visit they assured you it's fine. Go for a third visit and assure them that they need to look closer. That's exactly how it works in Lithuania.

I think the solution is pretty simple. Just go in and ask them to CT scan the joint. If the doctor refuses, ask for a second opinion, and say you really want them to double check via X-Ray or CT scan or whatever.

 

Get them to do the scan before wasting money on a private doctor. Get a copy of the scan if you can, in case you want to have the private doctor review the scan.

You shouldnt do a CT scan more than once a year beacuse of all the radiation It spews out. And X-rays can only see so much, they'll just have to use their actual skills to figure out the Issue, but thats also why Im considering the private doctor, beacuse they are usually more specialized (better at what they do).
