Get a 390 instead.

Answer the question.

Use case? If general gaming, 390 is king

Not always.

the 390 is only better in Vram and only gets 10 fps more in games then the 970

It doesn't get nearly 10 more FPS in most games- maybe 1-5 but not 10+.

I've admitted it before and it's that I have a soft spot for AMD. That being said, I won't deny that the 970 has many uses.

also he says the fps gain is like a bad thing

I know, and right? I thought that was odd :P

Its just like the 960 and 380, they trade off performance depending on the title.

but is 1-5 fps and more vram worth it over the 970?

The 390 can't use all 8GB's though, its not nearly powerful enough to use it all.

i still would go for the 970

I'd go because I prefer NVIDIA for GeForce Experience plus I'm pretty good at OC so even if the 390 got a few (1-3) frames on the 970 I'd have no problem OC'ing the 970 to match or exceed it.

Whats your score in Valley for the SLI?

Damn, saw what I wanted to see, thought they were 970's. Powering down.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

2nd tier Msi 970 that uses the old TF4 cooler. Has a design flaw that might disrupt certain SLI bridges.

Card should run games fine. Might not OC as well as 1st Tier 970s.

Regardless, I got a score of 3318 and 79.8fps with the Extreme HD Preset. Which is much higher than any 980 I've seen at the same settings.

I'd get a 390 aswell, black ops 3 on high-ultra settings surpasses the 4GB VRAM @ 1080p. It's not really concerning as of now but in the future we should see more games consume more and more VRAM especially if it's heavily modded. I'm just assuming the developers haven't done a great job in optimization/compression techniques compared to Witcher 3, I'm guessing it's either that or something to do with the CoD engine.

It was a trap. This is with the 390 and 290 at stock clocks.

Makes sense, 2 high end GPU's are better than two mid tier GPU's.

BUT SOOOO FRUSTRATING hahahahahahaha! I want a game to use it on.

On topic, you literally can't go wrong with ether, if you want the 970 get it. It's a great card. My crossfire limit's me to the 4g on the 290 and I have yet to see an issue with memory, and I run Fallout 4 mods at 1440. Highest I've seen was 3.7 loading with VERY aggressive texture settings. I can see into Lexington from Safeheaven aggressive.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
