i3-170 vs i5-4460 for budget CAD build

I'm planning on building a budget 750 dollar gaming rig and I'm deciding on the 4170 or 4460. I'll be doing light gaming with this paired with an R9 380 and I want to most bang for buck and as cheap as possible, hopefully less that 750, for Skyrim, ROK, RTS's, DDO, Wurm Online, sports and racing games, and indie titles, which is more bang for buck? And what mobo would you pair each with. I'm looking at the MSI H81M-E34 as I have had good experiences with it.

What would the performance difference on the 2 cpus for each game be?

The i5 wins in cpu heavy games. Since the 380 is a good gpu, I would go for the i5.

On most of those games performance will be similar, aside from Skyrim where there will be a decent advantage to the i5.
