Ok level with me guys...

I've had nothing but terrible experiences using the Catalyst driver suite. Issues ranging from worse gpu/cpu performance with new driver updates, to HDMI not working, to HDMI working but without sound passed through HDMI, crazy heat issues, slower than expected performance etc... I blame the drivers. I haven't purchased an AMD/ATI product in 5 years because of this.

Is this still the case? I'm also a bit of a slug when it comes to upgrading operating systems. I'm definitive on using Windows 7 for at least another year or so, so if you could share your Windows 7 experiences with AMD stuff I'd appreciate that as well.

Well it's all fine for me, I have an R9 270 and have kept my drivers up to date, no crashes, normal temps and I am on Team Red, because I prefer to have a price to performance ratio

Also running Windows 7 PRO

I haven't had issues with my 280 and the drivers for it. No crashes or anything like that.

With my 2009/2010 HP Pavilion DV6 3010AX I've had no issues with using CCC with both of the laptops dGPU. The HDMI audio works, the laptop did run hot but its cooling setup is very weak, and slower than expected performance could more than likely be thermal throttling or MS Windows being, well, MS Windows

Only issues I have encountered with my R9 270X was my fault for not doing research. When I had windows 7, I would randomly encounter crashes and other errors that relate to my GPU .After upgrading to windows 10, I actually found that I had a better experience with games and no longer got the error.

Also, if you do get windows 10...Make sure you google how to disable certain privacy settings to make sure you aren't sending your keystrokes to microsft.

I've never had any issues with the AMD drivers, and I run a full AMD system (FX-8350, R9 290X), I've had much more trouble using Nvidia ones, but then again, I used them for much longer.

The only time I had an issue was trying to run Windows 8.1 on my FX 4130 and Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 board (The board had integrated graphics, they were not very good) and AMD didn't have a driver for them that worked.

I'm pretty sure AMD's Radeon Crimson drivers come out tomorrow.

According to this link, the slideshow is embargo until November 24 (AKA tomorrow).

I'm on a 270x , worst purchase ever. As soon as purchased downloaded CCC (Catalyst Control Center) and downloaded latest driver, tried to run borderlands 2 and had shadow issues. Uninstalled drivers and used "beta" drivers from amd. Caused constant crashes with windows (This is all on windows 7 by the way) decided to finally upgrade to 8.1 and have had little to no problems whatsoever

I often skip out on a version or two of windows before updating. Windows ME taught me that. Vista and 8.0 reinforced it. Windows 10's privacy issues just scare the shit out of me. Thanks for chiming in.

AMD is definitely usable and the price is really affordable!

I think there's a lot of mudslinging at AMD and maybe I'm biased because my only PC is an AMD system, but I don't think AMD is anywhere near as bad as people think.

It was very bad at one point. None of my gamer circle does anything with AMD anymore except one odd-ball of the group who likes the GPU's on occasion. But I do realize it was a long time ago and things change.

All stable here...

I use DDU when moving between driver versions...

What is DDU? Please explain.
