At 1080p, no. But at 4k, still no.

I love the way you worded that

Could you recommend any that could (Less than £300)

GTX 970

This is a better 970 than the one I have (EVGA GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0) and my card runs GTA V at mostly ultra with a couple of settings at very high at a locked 60 fps with a Xeon E3-1231v3 (it's an i7-4770 minus the integrated graphics).

Not past 1080p, or with mods :P

Even at 1440p techpowerup has the 970 edging out the 390 (from their R9 Fury review)

750ti is a really good 900p card. But not past that. 960/380 recommended for 1080p.

It's a little tiring that people act like 390 has to beat 970 in every game or it's bs. Overall the 390 is the better gpu but they still trade blows pretty often at 1080p.

What's BS is that both cards change performance because of drivers. That makes it hard for someone coming into the hobby to make a informed decision. I'll make a controversial statement and say that both cards are 1080p cards. Sure they'll "play" games at higher resolutions but come on. That means anything over 60fps is a wash. In that regard they're both awesome cards. Now for the but you know was coming. The 390 is cheaper. Sure you can get a 970 for the same price and sometime lower than the 390, but not the DAMN example. That is why the 390 is better.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
