[Need Double-Checking] PC Build for long term use / Video Editing / High-End Gaming

Hello LTT Community, I am planning on building a PC that will be for long term use before needing to upgrade for a long time, with video rendering and high-end gaming / streaming aswell in mind.

CPU: i7 5820K 6 Core http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117402

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO w/ 120 mm PWM Fan http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099

Thermal: Artic Silver 5 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100007

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6 GB Hybrid Gaming AOI Water Cooled http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487144

PSU: Corsair HX850i 850W 80 Plus Platinum Power Supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139083

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 @ 3200 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233859

MOBO: ASUS X99-A USB 3.1 ATX Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132516

HDD: WD Black 2 TB 7200 RPM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236624

Case: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 ATX Mid Tower Cube Case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139032

Monitor: ASUS VG248QE 24' 144Hz 1ms 3D Monitor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236313

OS: Windows 10 Home (USB Drive) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832588528

I do not have plans for a SSD, maybe later, but right now id say im already over budget.

I will also be getting a Razer Deathstalker Chroma, I already have a razer deathadder for a mouse and a mousepad.

I just want to make sure I have everything I need to complete the PC, and to make sure everything is compatable by asking if you guys can double-check before I make the final payment :)

Currently I am using a ASUS G750JM Laptop, its held me good for the years, but I feel I should get a nice desktop if I want to continue rendering videos, this laptop just does not cut it at all.

I also do not plan to overclock anything, maybe the GPU, since it will be watercooled.

Adds up around $2300

Everything seems pretty good. This is almost identical to my $2000 build, which usually comes in around $1900 actually. Nice build plan, seems ready to go.

Looks great! Razer keyboards are pretty meh, but if you are a Razer fan then it should be ok ;)

Recommendations:

  1. scrap the 144hz for a IPS panel which matters much more for video editing
  2. get a standard 2tb HDD no need for the Black
  3. go with this motherboard
  4. get a smaller PSU a 650w PSU is enough for dual 980tis if it has all the right connectors, take a look at the 650w GS
  5. a hybrid GPU cooler means there are a lot more points of failure

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

I'd swap that cooler for something like a Cryorig H7, but preferably something a bit more high-end like a Phanteks TC14PE, or Noctua NH-D15. Also, i'd pick Arctic MX-4 thermal paste, over Arctic Silver 5.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

Can you put the build in a pcpartpicker list please?

Not including an ssd in the build is far from optimal. There are numerous places where costs can be trimmed without seriously affecting performance.

There is no reason to spend so much on the memory. Besides, a dual channel kit is less than optimal. The motherboard has 8 memory slots. Get a quad channel kit like Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4-2133 Memory.

I went for the Monitor because I play competatively like CS:GO and League of Legends. And it's not like im doing hard-core for money video editing, for my own pleasure / some videos and graphics that I do on the side.

I went for this motherboard because of that 3.1

PSU is for spareroom / future upgrades, this will be a build il probably add too, or if other parts tend to get more wattage use in the future, i can use this one.

And the hybrid is because of the price, since its nearing christmas, alot of 980 Ti's got cheaper, and their price before was the price of what the hybrid is now.

The ammount of ram I have is temporary, and will eventually be upgraded, i just dont want to get x2 kits of 4 GB each to fill all slots for only 32 GBs,id rather get x2 8 GB for now, then add more later.

Right now @thekeemo @brob is just because its out of budget,

Rease I am not going with anything like that is again, because its out of budget, I can probably add in the MX-4 though, thats fine.

Cryorig H7 is like $35 last time i checked. Not much more than the 212 EVO.

XMP profiles are based on kit density. There may be issues with the addition of a second 2x8GB kit running at the advertised speed and timings. There is also a small chance that the two kits will not run quad channel.

You may want to consider an IPS panel for video editing.

With some small changes that do not significantly affect performance or reliability it is possible to get a 4x8GB memory kit and 250GB ssd.
