21.5" Good enough or wait for a 23-24"?

sid0195

Way to small wait, I would have to like squint or sit right next to it to see.

I really think that it depends on what you do with your computer. If it's just a web browsing/word editing machine, 21.5" should be fine. If you want to do any kind of multi tasking, go bigger. Another big factor is how far away you sit from your monitors. The further away you sit, the bigger you'll want to go.

I've been using a 23" monitor and a 32" tv as my second monitor for a year now, and I run out of real estate really fast when I start working on stuff, so I just ordered two 28" monitors to give me more primary workspace and I'm going to use the 23" as a system monitor for things like WMP, YT, control panels, etc.

In my opinion anything less than 23" is too small, wait a little.

Nah, 23" 1080p is fine. You only really start to need more in the 25" range imo

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

It's hugely personal preference, as you can see from the replies. You really have to look at a monitor yourself to see if it'll suit you or not, it's not something we can tell you.

I was firmly in the camp of 24" being the smallest usable size. It's not. Currently I'm running 2 21.5" monitors, and I'm perfectly happy. To be completely honest, I don't really notice a huge difference from the 24" monitor I used to run. If you're running 2+ monitors, I think 21.5" is fine, or if you have a single monitor and don't sit overly far from it (2 ft+).

I wouldn't wait for a 23" monitor. If you step up, I'd say 24" would be the smallest size I'd wait for.

It's really not that bad.

Very well said, and easily the most helpful reply. Well done.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to afford a step up in resolution, I only got these dual 28's because they were 50% off NIB.

Surprisingly, right away when I built my new computer last Nov, CCC recognized that one of my displays was a 32" so it automatically suggested up-scaling to 1440p resolution on that screen. I'm hoping it will do the same thing with dual 28" monitors once I hook them up.
