New headphones at a $500 budget?

Bourne_Endeavour

Trying to decide on a good pair headphones after finally stepping away from "gaming" variations. I've heard a lot of good things about sennheiser hd 600, but would appreciate some input. Budget wise is around $500 Canadian or thereabouts.

Fidelio X2 gets my vote. It has soundstage compared to the HD600. The HD600 has a near-zero soundstage, which is BAD for gaming.

-Edit-

And yeah, the overall audio performance between the two, the Fidelio X2 has the HD600 on the ropes IMHO.

I second the X2, it's a good value for a good sound and ergonomics/build.

The M70X is an M40X with more silver on it.

Its not worth it.

And whats wrong with spending $500 CAD on headphones if someone really wants to step their audio-game up?

I am using Sony MDR 7506. It has Great sound, especially the bass. The sound insulation is very impressive, when the speakers are put together, you cannot hear any noise coming out unless you're really blasting the music. The cord is very well designed. It is thick enough that you aren't going to damage anything if you accidentally roll over it in your chair, and the coiled design makes it great for moving around. They are also extremely comfortable, and dont make my ears hurt or hot. I have a large head, and you can jack these out to fit even the largest head, yet they still fit snugly on my small-headed room mate. Fantastic headphones, I recommend them to everyone.

You're the first person I've see recommend the V Moda Crossfades. I own a pair of V Moda Crossfade LP and I'd say they're not bad but the bass can be a bit muddy and will interfere with the high/mids. However, I'd still say they're pretty good though. I don't own any other headphones though and so that's just in comparison with my ie80s.

People hear things differently, and they are normally well recommended - they should all be researched and checked out as they are good for the money and well built and stylish (depending on tastes)

I have to agree that the V Modas are good for the money as I was able to get mine for $79 USD on Amazon during a sale.

Edit:

With a modmic, its also awesome for gaming.  :)

The nice thing is you can use the boom mic on other headphones as well. It's not limited to the v moda.
