So.. that thing called Google

I see a lot of questions get asked and a lot of people getting pissy because their question didn't get answered in the 3.485 seconds they expected.

You guys ask very simple yes/no questions that get asked almost daily. If you take your question, go to www.google.com and type it in there will be many pages answering the same thing you just asked without the hassle of having to make the #138,993 post on the subject. It also make take much less time to just Google it.

I just did it with a handful of questions asked today and what do you know, Google results showed the same thing posted quite a bit on this very forum! WOW. Much Miracle.

I say this because I get a lot of messages going you looked at my post, why didn't you reply! or just generally people are dicks in their posts.

You seem to be missing the point of the forums. The LMGTFY attitude is unhelpful and not needed.

Thats correct if people used google this forum wouldnt exist

Hell they could probably type it in the forum search rather than google, that way LTT gets more traffic.

Don't misunderstand I will not tell people to google things, rather if I know of a thread that answers the question I link it.

I help people with some of the hardest problems that most of the forum scratches their heads at and go WTF? This is a Hey, let me research my own problem before I make a post about it and start getting mad because no one answered me

How dare someone ask a question on a forum.

I think they should be shot immediately.

Savages, absolute savages.

Our Grace. The Feathered One. He shows us the way. His bob is majestic and shows us the path. Follow unto his guidance and His example. He knows the one true path. Our Saviour. Our Grace. Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example. LMGTFY is banned for a reason

That's someone giving a link to the Google.

This is the STEP before that.

The person actually googles the problem themselves and finds the 100 other forum posts on this forum answering their question.

But how is this going to help stop people from asking simple questions? If they're not going to research the question, how are they going to find this post, or the numerous other posts that tell people to Google things? You're not the first to bring this up by any means, and it never helps anything.

Some people just want the reassurance of people confirming the answer to a question.

What's this Google you speak of? As I only use Bing. Bing: The search engine to find nothing......

How much did they pay you for this?

Most of the answers come from.....people asking those questions on....Oh no....FORUMS!! OH THE HUMANITY! If everyone just tells people to go to Google, they might get one answer somewhere, but it may not fix THEIR problem. The more results people get, the better chance of their question being answered. And if it's not answered, they can ask it on a forum, increasing the chance that someone else will get the same question answered. You see how this works? The more answers we provide, the more answers other people are going to get, and the more likely their question will be answered.

The whole "Let Me Google That For You" rule is exactly what I explained above. Telling someone to Google it does not answer their question, and their requirements may go beyond "yes" or "no."

Lastly, if someone asks a yes or no question and they get many hits saying one way or the other, it might further boost their confidence to go through with their purchase, or provide them with the information to make a smarter purchase.
