This has to be hands-down the best question I have heard so far today .... I dont have the answer, I wish I could help .... but I love teh question. I would go for trial and error ...

Am I right in guessing you are trying to impress a lucky girl, I love your romatic description  (flowers n chocolate n shit) of how you are going to make her girlish herat do cartwheels ...

I could see it going wrong, just floating past the window and into the sky forever lost :)

it depends on the object you're trying to lift...

heavy object = more helium needed

That STRICTLY depends on the weight of the payload.

You need to know the exact weight, it would be best to have it measured to a single gram, or even more precise.

From what I understand, you want it to lift slowly to the window, not to go slowly to stratosphere... Therefore we need the exact payload in order to calculate the exact amount of helium that would lift said payload at, let's say, 5 centimeters/second. It's not that hard - but it's more complicated than it sounds.

Also, you're going to need a way to fill your baloon with exact amount of helium if you want it to succeed. Not enough helium - it won't fly. Too much helium - it'll fly right past the window and into LEO. ;)
