This. Precisely, why it is so expensive is because it has a 1TB SSD, and not just any SSD, it is a 1TB PCIe SSD. PCIe SSDs don't even come cheap in the first place, and to put one in the Surface Book, it is most probably custom, so think before you post. Shit post is shit.

A 13" rMBP currently costs $2700 on the Apple store for the following config which is the highest you can do for the 13" model:

• Dual Core i7 3.1GHz CPU
• 16GB RAM
• 1TB PCIe SSD

Sure it doesn't come with a dedicated GPU or a touchscreen/pen.

 

Even a 1TB 16GB 15" rMBP is cheaper than the Surface Book by $200, and it comes with a dedicated GPU, or if fully configured with all the upgrades it comes out to $3199.00.

 

The Surface Book i7, 1TB, dGPU model comes with the following CPU and GPU

Dual core i7 6600U processor and nVidia 940m GPU with 1GB memory.
