does data in a minecraft server save?

so, i only created a minecraft server only so i can have some friends help me build a couple mansions. Problem is, i don't know if the data saves, like if the stuff they build stays there until i do something with it. Does it, or does it reset?

It should save. Can't remember where. Lemme see if I have my old one set up still.

 

EDIT: Still have it, can't find the save. Crap. Anywhoser, it should just be named "world" or something basic like that.

there is a directory for the world that it saves on exit in

Unless the server is read only or something of sorts, then yes everything that happens should/will be stored.

Yes, it saves.

 

Be sure that when you are going to shut down the server you use the /stop command, that way everything saves and you don't end up with corrupted files or anything.

 

(If you've got more questions, I could probably provide some answers, as I've been doing stuff with minecraft servers for at least 2.5 years now, and my current server has been going for 1.5, starting up a 2nd one soon )

that forces the save

but it autosaves itself every 5 mins anyway
