Good RTS games (No War/Starcraft)

AresKrieger

After playing an rts game (Sins of a Solar Empire) with my friend I got to wondering what are some good rts games you guys have played.

Some criteria, no games that take more than half a day to finish (sins has this problem) and it can't have a ridiculous UI things(aka the screen is full of stuff) as I have no attention span, and as the title says no war/starcraft as I am not a fan, and I already know of them.

Just going to point it out, it is expensive on Steam, but can be found on G2A for around £7 or £9 for all three.

Yeah I rarely buy direct from steam, and I check gog to see if they have games as DRM, even steam annoys me.

Homeworld Remastered is a good one to get. It's a classic.

Age of Empires II and III are excellent. Act of War and it's new spiritual sequel that just came out. Age of Mythology, Supreme Commander, Total Annihilation, Planetary Annihilation...

There's so many both on and off Steam. GOG has a lot of gems available.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. RGB everywhere.

I don't know how much you're into really old games, but Age of Mithology changed the world for me more than 10 years ago.

Doesn't matter as long as it can run and I can find game info thx

Personally I thinks the best rts game out there is Company of Hereos (original one). It has a bit of a high learning curve but once you get it, it is awesome. The graphics are still great even on today's standards. Gameplay wise it requires a very tactical approach.

"Graphics and gameplay are not mutually exclusive."

"Nvidia, AMD, Intel, or whatever company out there has only one end goal and that is PROFIT.

If you think these companies exist for any other reason you're gonna be disappointed my dear. CAVEAT EMPTOR"

Command and Conquer: Generals - Shockwave mod, Battle Realms, Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge, MechCommander 2 (this game is now a freeware but its still worth the try), Rise of Legends (or Rise of Nations), Everything from Total War series, Men of War series,

These are some of the ones I have played for a long time (and I have played SoaSE too) but there's a lot of Strategy games out there that probably can be considered good after trying it...
