IMGUR COMPRESSED THE SHIT OUT OF THESE, SO I HAD TO PUT THEM IN A 7Z FILE TO KEEP THINGS FROM EATING THEM.

So I made some insanely high resolution upscales of these two images.

The resulting images were 12946x5418 for the 3D one, and 15360x4800 for the flat one. If its worth doing, its worth overdoing.

Sources:

http://imgur.com/ZxLtSzD (seems to be the original source or something)

http://www.wallconvert.com/converted/circuits-schematic-3840x1200-wallpaper-969984-227949.html (not sure of original source)

And here are the results in RED.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-LjUeh-cirIdjJWMERaSTVyVG8/view?usp=sharing

They are in a 7z file.

Both were a pesky JPEG instead of PNG, so I had to do some noise reduction and blurring to get rid of the JPEGGYNESS.

I exported in a JPEG with as high of quality as I could do.

What do you think? I have them available in PNG if you want to give me a place to upload a much larger file...

These would be quite useful in a full-span setup in this tutorial: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/478063-5000-posts-easy-multi-monitor-wallpapers-and-more/

You actually made them look worse.

Thanks! I wanted them in red. Try zooming into them, and then you will see the difference. I have uncompressed versions, but they are like 50MB

No, I don't mean the color. It's more blurry with your editing.

Either that or it's Imgur compression.

Wait, so are all of these links your work, or are the first two the source and the second two your work?  Because they all look decently clear... I mean not great, but you did mention the JPEGness :)  Where is the terrible source that you miraculously improved?

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

The second two were my upscaled edits, the first two were images I found on google.

But, for the 3D one, the blue one was higher res...  ?

@iamdarkyoshi

Flickr gives you 1TB of space free and doesn't compress stuff, and you can link the images directly.

Also, waifu2x is an upscaler as well (if you have need of one that's specifically for animation).

I have uploaded them to my google drive in a 7Z file

Nice.

For anyone wondering, here's a preview of the improvement (make sure you click to see full size):

To be perfectly honest, I'm still not a fan of the 2D one - I think it is pretty blurry and also could be improved pretty easily, but the other one is pretty good!

Thanks for the preview! The electrons on the board really improved. They still arent the best though.

Sorry, I had to

Vote time!

Who's is better: my edited one, or the one in the 7z?

Photoshop :)

It's a really basic technique.  I noticed that this image is effectively 2 colours, so I just pushed the contrast through the roof, making sure to leave enough just for antialiasing, and then I brought the colours back into check with the original.  Work great for really simple drawing style images like this but of course that would not work for anything more complicated.

I should have thought of that! Doh. Ah well. By the way, the uncompressed PNG is 200MB O.o

That's nothing!  I created a an image at 86400 x 36000 just because I could.  It's 6.95 GB, and has to be stored in .PSB format (lossless compressed, like PNG) because it's too big even for .bmp :)

No one does, I just thought I'd see how crazy I could go :D

The largest "actual" image I have that has a legitimate reason for its resolution is 36000 x 21600
