One doesn't need a 980Ti for 1080p ultrawide. A 980 or 390X would do. Like

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($242.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: MSI B85-G43 GAMING ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($61.98 @ Newegg)
Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 390X 8GB Double Dissipation Video Card  ($383.98 @ Newegg)
Case: NZXT S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($67.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $1011.76
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

you would need to skimp so much on the other parts it would hinder the 980 ti... paul just did a 1200 980 ti build and even that kinda hurt after he got in a 6600k and the 980 ti
