RTX 3070 vs 4060 TI

So, I'm looking for a new GPU upgrade from my GT 1030. I'm planning on changing it to RTX 3070 but then I see a video comparing a 3070 with a 4060 TI 8gb. I saw the performance is not that different but one thing that I see that is impressive is the power draw. I live in Indonesia wher the 3070 is 5.5 million rupiah and the 4060 ti 8gb is around 6-7 million rupiah. Is it worth it to change to the 4060 ti 8gb other than the 3070? I mean yeah its more expensive but its also newer so maybe longer support, have new feature that the 3070 doesn't (maybe), and less power draw. Is it worth it to go to the 4060 Ti 8gb although its more expensive than the 3070? Does the 4060 ti 8gb offers the same native performance as the 3070 native performance or maybe even better?

 

My system specs

Ryzen 5 1600

16GB RAM

MSI B350M Mortar

650w Broze PSU

 

I know my system is kinda bottleneck with the current GPU but I will upgrade it later on and now focusing on the GPU first because its the most expensive parts :).

RTX 4060ti struggles to even beat 3060ti in some games so 3070 will be always better... especially with the price difference.

 

4060ti is one of the worst value cards in general so almost anything in that price range should be better like RX 6700 XT / RX 7700 XT as well and they tend to be also significantly cheaper.

The 4060 cards are jokes

under NO circumstances should you buy it over a 3070 or a AMD equivalent unless you REALLY want the newest NVIDIA features

IMO, if you play a shit ton of games that has Nvidia's FG, sure the 4060ti might be worth it.

 

Support? you mean driver support?

If so, it's gonna be long for each of the card.

IIRC they only dropped support for GTX600 series at 2021, the card was released at 2012.

Whats the difference between dlss and FG? Wouldnt it be enough if I only turn on dlss?

Honestly they all kind of sit around similar level of performance, I'd pick up 4060Ti 16GB version if it's affordable, otherwise the cheapest option will probably suffice.

 

I do have to note both RX 6800 and 7700 XT from AMD can be decent choices if you don't care about RayTracing. Especially if you're 1440p.

One is DLSS and the other is Frame Generation, one uses AI to upscale resolution, the other one uses AI to generate fake frames for higher framerate.

In here if you already hitting that price range maybe just go with NVIDIA because they have some great features that the AMD doesn't have. So, maybe that is the reason I go with NVIDIA. depends what features, some features AMD does have similarly to Nvidia, but it does depends what features are we talking about,

Rewatching quickly some reviews it seems like on avg the 4060ti does sit in between 3060ti and 3070 though that's not really a big gap. Still, I'd rather pick a card with more VRAM in that price range.

 

Also I probably should check beforehand and not go based of fuzzy memory of what I remembered from early reviews.

they all have same VRAM, so if I owned a 1440p display I'd go AMD personally, if I needed Nvidia, then I'd grab the cheapest out of the 2
