2TB HDD, or 1TB SSHD?

SamwiseDB

There isn't much of a price difference between the two, and I know I can fill a terabyte easily, so is the performance increase enough to buy half the hard drive space?

Maybe.

I would take the SSHD, but that's because I can't easily fill 1 TB.

2TB. You get HDD or HDD. SSHD is waste imo.

I'd get a small cheap SSD (crucials are my favourite in this market) for your OS, and whatever hard drive you feel you can afford for mass storage. It is actually a far greater performance issue to seperate them like this than run a caching storage solution like a ssHD.

It also depends on this:

Is the 2 TB drive 5400 RPM?

No, it really doesn't. even the cheapest, nastiest ssd is going to rip through a 7200rpm HDD in terms of performance....it's just going to cost more. use a cheapish ssd for OS, and anything you need to load quickly, use a HDD for mass storage, the way it's designed in modern systems that aren't pre-built.

I'm quite aware of that, thank you very much.  <_<

I meant between the 2 TB HDD and 1 TB SSHD.

I'd still probably recommend a 100GB bx100 and something like a WD black 1TB...upgrade as your budget allows. I like crucial, and intel drives for memory that cannot fail, which is why I prefer them for boot drives (despite using a samsung xp941, check the specs 12 months ago, it's still a beast, but it was monstrous before NVMe) WD is a personal choice, impacted in part by their presence on this forum, and their ease of use.

Personally I'd go 2 TB because SSHD is going to slow down once the data is not in the cache, that and even if it takes a few seconds longer it still works. The opposite wont work of fitting 2 TB on a 1 TB drive though. Just my 2 cent's.

Well if you got a laptop, it's good if you can find a good SSHD deal like the WD black2 dual(120GB ssd+1tb hdd). I got my laptop to fit that, and I think I only paid $120 couple months back.

But if only using it for a desktop pc, I'd get a 120GB ssd just for the OS and then later down the road get another ssd for the most game/program you use. I personally have a mixture of both drives to serve separate purposes.

The 2TB one any day, 1TB might sound like much but it isn't.

And to think that I had a 80GB drive in my computer once and I told to myself that I would never fill that, now with a 3TB one and I'm in need for another one lol.

I know, I had 1TB laptop, which I filled with my relatively small steam library within 6 months.
