Room for one more?

EmmaMay

Hello everyone,

I was just wondering, in the current economic climate would there be enough room for another console manufacturer on the market? or because gamers have already invested enough into the current generation there isn't room for another console on the market, I was just wondering what people's options are on the subject.

Thanks

Emma xoxo

It'd be hard as hell.

Getting game makers to forward to a whole new platform.

It'd be costly, that's for sure.

Apparently Valve thinks so, as they are making a Steam Box.

I think there is room, but only if it offers a unique advanatge and if they have the support of the third parties (Your Activisions, EA's, etc.)

Dont see a point at all, the ps4 and xbo are pretty much the same damn thing already in terms of the games you get on it I dont think even both of those should exist to be honest, Sony should handle the hardware side and networking should be on microsoft's side for a combined system (if you take the best of each console)

The Wii u has its place since its got some unique exclusive software going for it. but other then that I see absolutely no point in fragmenting the gaming space even more. Only only that the console scene has never been able to support more then 3 systems at once.

System Specs

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x | Mobo: Gigabyte B550i Aorus Pro AX | RAM: Hyper X Fury 3600 64gb | GPU: Nvidia FE 4090 | Storage: WD Blk SN750 NVMe - 1tb, Samsung 860 Evo - 1tb, WD Blk - 6tb/5tb, WD Red - 10tb | PSU:Corsair ax860 | Cooling: AMD Wraith Stealth  Displays: 55" Samsung 4k Q80R, 24" BenQ XL2420TE/XL2411Z & Asus VG248QE | Kb: K70 RGB Blue | Mouse: Logitech G903 | Case: Fractal Torrent RGB | Extra: HTC Vive, Fanatec CSR/Shifters/CSR Elite Pedals w/ Rennsport stand, Thustmaster Warthog HOTAS, Track IR5,, ARCTIC Z3 Pro Triple Monitor Arm | OS: Win 10 Pro 64 bit

Between PC, Xbox, and PS4, Id say no.

The market is filled and has been for a while, the three big dogs are kinda just gonna be dominant for a long time.

4690K // 212 EVO // Z97-PRO // Vengeance 16GB // GTX 770 GTX 970 // MX100 128GB // Toshiba 1TB // Air 540 // HX650

Logitech G502 RGB // Corsair K65 RGB (MX Red)

With Steam machines starting to take off, and with the established console brands, it would be pretty difficult to convince console players to invest in a new platform unless you can make it super unique. Having a developer sign on to do some exclusives would help, but they're not going to do that until the platform has been established and they are sure that they can make money with it.

In my opinion if a new player entered into the market I think it would be a good decision as long as they have enough money in the bank to stay afloat, plus the support from some of the AAA companies I think it would be good, competition is healthy and helps to drive innovative ideas as well.
