How easy is it to resell Components?

Drummaboy57

Im trying to select a CPU and GPU for VST and Plugin heavy music production, (Also wondering the specs of any future cpu and gpu products) and was wondering if I should go all out right now? with a i7-5960x and a 980ti, or should be conservative with a gpu that runs 1080p and a i7-5820k.

Also want to take the time to thank all the regulars who have helped me with answering my questions weeks on end. I probably push a lot of your patience for asking an astronomical amount of "stupid" questions. I have been trying super hard not to waste this money, and getting the most out of it without undercutting my project demands.

If you're in the USA it's very easy if you price your products correctly.

I personally have sold around 10,000$ worth of components, usually only takes a few days to find a buyer if you have a product people want and a price people are willing to pay.

About your other questions, I think 5820k is your best bet. 5960x costs nearly 3x as much and certainly won't offer a 3x better experience. I say 5820k and 980 ti.

I never have problems selling them on ebay, but you are going to lose a lot on it, not only the price will have to be about a half of same new part or even less if it is not available anymore but ebay and paypal will skin your profit quite a bit as well... but I always say it is better to have 20-50% money back than pile of junk laying around.

If you're selling popular current components the loss is quite minimal. You can sell 980s for 400$ despite them being 500$ new. 980 ti pretty easy to get 550-600 despite them being 650-750. Cpus barely lose anything either as long as they are current gen.

And motherboard prices increase over time.

Sort of, depends on the board though. EBay prices for old parts are absolutely retarded. People try to sell rampage extreme 775 boards on there for 500$, yet on overclocking forums you can pick em up for 150-180 often
