Gaming CPU Upgrade

I am currently running a FX-8350 on a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 motherboard with 760's in SLI, and I was curious to whether it would be worth the money to upgrade to a i5-4690k and a Z97 motherboard (for gaming). Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

Edit: Bought an i5-6600k and a GA-Z170X-UD3 with 8GB of 2666MHZ crucial RAM. It was totally worth it, huge performance increase. Would recommend.

I think Skylake is a better idea! :)

 

Also do you need to? I mean if your CPU has no problems why not keep it longer? ;)

egh its your choice its a good upgrade so you can upgrade your gpu's without worrying about a cpu bottleneck

Lol, AMD doesn't get hotter, it just reaches its thermal maximum quicker because the maximum is lower than intel's

 

keep the 8350 and wait until Zen comes, or grab a cheap 12thread intel

 

its not worth the price for a mobo+cpu for a small gain in performance, aswell as having the same amount of cores

I'd be curious to hear why you're jumping to intel.  Bottlenecking on two GTX 760s? 

 

And I agree with what others are saying in regards to Skylake.  It is becoming more affordable now with more motherboard choices and cheaper DDR4.

I thought that difference in performance was negligible, and that DDR4 doesn't really offer a significant benefit over DDR3 for the price difference, is there something that I'm missing?

yes...if you are building new

then you pretty much go with skylake

haswell and skylake builds are now about ..maybe 20$ diff in price

Or you could wait to see if Zen is better. That build of yours isn't bad by any means. Are you overclocked at all?

I was not overclocked at all, probably should have been though since I had an h80i
