Well... you aren't always right though.

It just depends on what games you play. An i5/i7 + GTX 950 is amazing for most MMORPG's, Moba's and the like.

But for FPS and heavy AAA titles, than something more like a 960/970/980/980Ti or any AMD equivalent would be better.

If you mostly edit/render videos and photos and play less demanding games like mobas and csgo, then I could understand pairing an i7 and 950. If it's all about gaming then an i5 and 960 or 970 (or AMD equivalent card) would be a better pair for similar cost to i7 and 950.

Depends on what you're doing, but for gaming, an I7 is unnecessary 99% of the time.

it depends on use case scenario...for gaming an i5 and higher end GPU will perform better...for editing in adobe premiere or after effects and doing final renderings or for modeling in blender the i7 and 950 will do better

I'd say the i7 would help on things that need CPU rendering, assuming your GPU can't really do that. But aye, good CPU and GPU if you need it I'd say.

Nonsense it is, indeed. To the highest degree. I can get a 290X for $240 at the moment. Pair that with an i5 and you've got yourself one hell of a machine.
